Mohsin Naqvi notified as member of PCB board of governors

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has been appointed as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee.

A notification regarding his appointment was issued on Tuesday

Caretaker Prime Minister and PCB Patron-in-Chief has approved the nomination of Mohsin Naqvi as member of the governing board in place of Zaka Ashraf.

The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination has issued the notification in connection with the appointment of Naqvi.

A 10-member board of governor including Mohsin Naqvi and Mustafa Ramday will elect a new PCB chairman.

PCB Election Commissioner Shah Khawar will soon issue a schedule for the election of the PCB chief.

After the Feb 8 elections, Naqvi will no longer be caretaker Punjab chief minister and will be nominated as PCB chairman for three years.

Earlier, Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), had forwarded his resignation to Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar just two weeks before the scheduled expiry of the IMC’s tenure. His resignation has been accepted by the PM.

During the tenure of Ashraf, Pakistan played two major competitions – Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup.

The Men in Green failed to qualify in the final of the continental tournament while they also couldn’t qualify for the semi-finals of the World Cup.
