SC to hear Faizabad dharna review petition today

ISLAMABAD: The Faizabad dharna review case is set to take center stage in the Supreme Court today. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will lead a three-member bench, accompanied by Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Athar Minallah.

The Attorney General will provide the court with vital information regarding the establishment of the inquiry commission.

The Supreme Court, in a previous session, had disposed of 12 petitions, including those from political entities such as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and Ijaz-ul-Haq, based on withdrawal.

Notably, Sheikh Rasheed was granted an extension to withdraw his review in the Faizabad dharna case. The court, dissatisfied with the government’s fact-finding committee, took a decisive step by rejecting it outright.

Instead, the Supreme Court directed the government to form an inquiry commission to address the intricacies surrounding the Faizabad dharna.

Furthermore, the court’s had also rejected the details of foreign funding of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
