Four killed, five injured in Sibi blast

SIBI: At least four people were killed and five others were injured during a blast on Jinnah Road in Sibi, Balochistan.

According to a news report, the perpetrators apparently targeted a rally organised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) in connection with the upcoming general election scheduled on February 8.

According to sources, four people lost their lives while at lease five sustained injuries.

Law enforcers and health official reached the site of the blast and shifted the injured to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan health department imposed state of emergency in all hospitals across the province, including in Quetta.

Earlier, security forces thwarted a terrorist attack in the district of Mach, Balochistan. The security forces had received prior intelligence and set up a trap for the terrorists.

Balochistan Caretaker Information Minister Jan Achakzai said that no security personnel were killed during the attack.

Election Commission of Pakistan takes notice

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) took notice of the incident. The Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has asked Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan and the Balochistan Inspector General of Police, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh to prepare a report of the incident.
