Quetta, surrounding areas rocked by 4.2 magnitude earthquake

QUETTA: On Thursday morning, the city of Quetta experienced tremors as a 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck, as reported by the seismological centre. The quake also affected Zhob in Balochistan and surrounding areas.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 123 km north of Zhob. Details about the intensity and impact of the seismic activity are under examination.

Authorities are reportedly monitoring the situation for any potential consequences in the affected regions.

Earlier, at the beginning of this month, earthquake tremors were reported in the federal capital, Islamabad, and its surrounding areas, registering a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake’s epicentre was in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area, at a depth of 137 km. The seismic activity prompted residents to exit their homes, reciting Kalma Tayyaba out of fear.
