Caretaker PM holds 10 tolas of gold, valuing at Rs 80,000

ISLAMABAD: Holders of public office are bound by law to disclose the details of their assets when they are inducted. The caretaker set-up is no different, whereby the appointed officials are required by the law to disclose the details of their wealth and properties.

On Thursday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disclosed the details of some of the most prominent members of the interim government, including caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar.

According to the documents shared by the ECP, the interim PM has net worth of Rs. 48.2 million (Rs. 48,182,580 to be exact). Among the disclosed assets is 20 acres of inherited agricultural land, appraised at Rs. 8 million; 50,000 shares in Pakistan Chagai Mining Limited, and 10 tola gold valued at Rs 80,000. Additionally, the caretaker PM has over Rs 20 million deposited across two banks.

Beyond financial instruments, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has also revealed the assessed value of the furniture in his residence, approximating it at Rs 400,000.

In addition to PM, details of assets held by the caretaker finance minister Shamshad Akhtar has also been revealed by the ECP. She owns a house worth Rs 4 million in Karachi DHA, phase 6, along with a plot in Karachi DHA valued at Rs 125,000. In the documents, she has disclosed that the land was a gift by her father.

She also has Rs 2.79 billion investments in Naya Pakistan Certificates, shares worth over Rs 300,000 lakh in Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Rs 19.6 million in the form of T-bills, among other investments.

The caretaker finance minister also owns gold worth Rs 200,000 and Rs 1.9 million in cash along with Rs 3.9 million deposits in banks.
