Anwarulhaq decides to leave Senate, BAP membership


ISLAMABAD: Anwarulhaq Kakar has decided to resign from his Senate role and give up his membership in the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) before taking on the responsibility of being the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan.

He will take the oath as the caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day.

 

Sources who are knowledgeable about the matter have confirmed that Kakar’s choice stems from his intention to uphold complete neutrality during the upcoming crucial political phase.

Anwarulhaq Kakar is an ethnic Pashtun politician from Balochistan serving as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Balochistan.

A founding member of the Balochistan Awami Party, he was the spokesperson for the Government of Balochistan from 2015 till 2018 when he was elected as a senator on an independent seat.
