Sister of former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, Anum Mirza took to social media to officially confirm the divorce of Sania Mirza and cricketer Shoaib Malik. The confirmation comes after Shoaib Malik and actress Sana Javed shared joint wedding photos on Instagram on Saturday, January 20.

Sources had initially claimed the divorce between Shoaib and Sania, a statement later supported by Sania Mirza’s father, Imran Mirza, during a conversation with Indian media. Now, on Sunday morning, Anum Mirza released an official statement on Instagram on behalf of the family and Sania’s team.

The shared note revealed, “Sania has always kept her private life hidden from the public, but today the need has arisen for her to share with everyone that a few months have passed since Shoaib and her divorce.” The statement on Instagram further conveyed Sania’s well wishes for her ex-husband Shoaib’s new life.

Anum Mirza also requested fans not to indulge in false news and to respect the privacy of the family. The same note was reiterated by Sania Mirza’s father, Imran Mirza, on his own social media account.

Rumors of Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza’s divorce had been circulating since December 2022, although neither party had confirmed or denied the speculations. The couple, who tied the knot in April 2010, welcomed their first son, Izhan, on October 30, 2018.

In a parallel development, singer Umair Jaswal and actress Sana Javed, who got married in October 2020, have faced recent rumors of divorce. However, the couple had neither confirmed nor denied these speculations.
