ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has issued a show cause notice to its Senator Bahramand Tangi for voting in favour of a resolution that sought the postponement of the general election.

The notice, signed by PPP Secretary General Nayar Hussain Bukhari, asked Tangi to explain his actions within a week or face disciplinary action.

According to the notice, Tangi violated the party policy and did not represent the party’s position in the Upper House of the Parliament.

The resolution, moved by independent Senator Dilawar Khan and supported by some other smaller parties, sought to postpone the elections until the security situation improved in the country.

The notice said that Tangi’s vote was against the party’s interests and principles and amounted to a breach of trust.
