Nomination papers of 77 per cent PTI candidates approved

ISLAMABAD: The nomination papers of 77 per cent of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed candidates for both national and provincial assemblies have been approved, while 23 per cent faced rejection, according to Hum News investigation team.

The data reveals that nomination papers of 1,996 out of 2,620 candidates endorsed by PTI were approved for 859 general seats in the 2024 general elections. This translates into 77 per cent acceptance rate for PTI-backed candidates.

Specifically, 843 PTI-endorsed candidates submitted their papers for the National Assembly, with 71 per cent of them gaining approval, and 29 per cent facing rejection.

In the case of provincial assemblies, 1,777 PTI-backed candidates submitted their papers, with 79 per cent gaining approval and 21 per cent facing rejection. Notably, PTI received success in Punjab and Islamabad, with papers of 68 per cent of National Assembly candidates’ getting approved. In Punjab’s Provincial Assembly, 78 per cent of PTI-backed candidates received approval.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for National Assembly 77 per cent gained approval, and 23 per cent were rejected, while for the Provincial Assembly 84 per cent of PTI-backed candidates secured approval for the Provincial Assembly, while 16 per cent faced rejection.

Identical rulings by ROs surprises election tribunal judge

In Sindh, 75 per cent of PTI-endorsed candidates for the National Assembly received approval, while 25 per cent faced rejection. For the Provincial Assembly in Sindh, 82 per cent gained approval, and 18 per cent faced rejection.

PTI candidates in Balochistan witnessed 41 per cent approval in the Provincial Assembly. These statistics underscore the fact that PTI will contest the elections for National and Provincial assemblies with substantial presence.
