Newly elected National Assembly to meet on Feb 29


ISLAMABAD: Sources indicate that the newly elected National Assembly is anticipated to convene on February 29.

During the inaugural session, newly elected members are expected to take their oaths.

The first session of the incoming National Assembly will be chaired by Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf will be responsible for administering the oath to the newly elected members.

As per legal regulations, the notification of the newly elected members should be issued within 14 days following the election.

Independent candidates will be granted a period of 3 days to affiliate with a party.

In accordance with Article 91 of the Constitution, the National Assembly will be convened within 21 days subsequent to the elections.
