ISLAMABAD: Unknown assailants launched an attack on the convoy of Mohsin Dawar, former Member National Assembly and Chairman of the National Democratic Movement, in Tapi village of Miranshah in North Waziristan on Wednesday.

The ambush occurred while Mohsin Dawar was en route to Tapi as part of his election campaign. According to police reports, the attackers opened fire on his convoy, causing damage to the front and side windows of Dawar’s vehicle.

Fortunately, Dawar remained unharmed, thanks to the bulletproof features of his car.

In response to the attack, an application has been submitted to the Election Commission seeking the disqualification of both Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir.

Maulana Fazl foresees election delay

The police have swiftly taken action, relocating Dawar to a secure location nearby.

Simultaneously, a rigorous search for the assailants has been initiated to bring them to justice.

Mohsin Dawar represents North Waziristan in the lower house of the Pakistani Parliament and is a founding member of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement.

 The motives behind the attack remain unclear, and authorities are actively investigating the incident to ascertain the identities and motivations of the perpetrators.

 As the situation unfolds, concerns mount over the safety and security of political figures during the ongoing election campaigns in the region.
