Lahore belongs to PPP, Bilawal tells detractors

LAHORE: Taking a dig at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has asserted, “Tell those who mock us for coming to Lahore that this city belongs to the PPP.”

Addressing a party rally at Lahore’s Township cricket ground, Bilawal said, “They mock us, questioning our numbers and asking why we have come to Lahore. Tell them that Lahore is my city as well. We are part of the caravan of 1972 (when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto clinched victory in Lahore). No matter how low our numbers are, we will compete fully. The people of Lahore burned themselves on the death sentence of the leader of the people (ZA Bhutto).”

He continued, “I stand in Lahore to give a message to everyone that the situation is difficult. Inflation is rising, there is an economic crisis, and there are political and democratic crises. But, the people should not be disappointed.”

“Those who are engaged in politics of hatred are dividing the country. The Pakistan People’s Party will bury the politics of hatred and division. We will lead the country out of the political crisis. The terrorists are raising their heads again, and we can see them. I will cut off the hands of the terrorists who are raising their heads in the country.”

Bilawal emphasized, “I am contesting the election from the heart of Pakistan (Lahore). At the moment, the heart of Pakistan is broken, and we will fix it. To those who question why we have come to Lahore, tell them Lahore belongs to the PPP.”

He added, “Sometimes Showbaz (Shehbaz Sharif) and sometimes Wasim Akram Plus (Usman Buzdar) is imposed on Punjab. We cannot leave Pakistan to these incompetent people. The PPP is the party that fulfills its promises and proves it.”

He stated, “I have prepared a manifesto for the elections, keeping in mind the problems of the people.”
