KP govt warns people against investing in Bahria Town, Citi Housing projects

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned prospective buyers against buying and selling plots in Bahria Town Peshawar and the Citi Housing Peshawar.

Speaking at a press conference, KP’s Caretaker Information Minister Feroz Jamal Shah Kakakhel stated in his statement that Bahra Town Peshawar and the Citi Housing have not been issued no-objection certificate (NOC), whatsoever, to operate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that the situation is critical in Mathra due to private housing societies. He said that both private housing societies have neither land nor documents.

He strongly advises the public to refrain from engaging in the buying and selling of plots in these two housing projects.

he said that government actions have led to a decrease in the value of the dollar. Efforts are being made to curb the smuggling of dollars and gold, he said adding: “Agencies have become active, and the dollar, sugar, and gold will become cheaper.”

Shah said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, illegal electricity connections (kunda) have been removed from a thousand locations, while discussions are under way regarding federal responsibilities for remaining issues.

“In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 95% of people pay their electricity bills, with 5% involved in theft,” he said.

‘Bahria Town illegally collects Rs906 million from electricity consumers’

Earlier, the private housing society, Bahria Town, collected Rs906 million from its residents under the header of power charges, going against the directions of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

Bahria Town charged additional Rs4 per unit from electricity consumers against the tariff set by the NEPRA.
