ISLAMABAD: The interim government has announced a surge in petrol prices for the next two weeks, marking an increase of Rs4.13 per litre. In contrast, the diesel rate remains unchanged at Rs287.33 per litre.

As per a notification from the Finance Division, the revised petrol price in Pakistan stands at Rs279.75 per litre, effective until March 15.

Earlier indicators had hinted at the possibility of a gasoline price surge. Initial reports last week suggested a potential increase of up to Rs4 per litre, but recent reports this week proposed a hike of Rs3.5 per litre.

Previously, petrol was available at Rs275.62 per litre in Pakistan, while diesel was priced at Rs287.33 per litre.

Unfortunately, this decision to hike petrol price is expected to impact the already strained finances of Pakistanis grappling with inflation and high electricity, gas, and food prices.

It’s noteworthy that this price adjustment could potentially be the last from the caretaker government.
