Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is observing a day of “Thanksgiving and Salvation” today, as the tenure of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government concluded Wednesday night.

President Dr. Arif Alvi granted assent to the early dissolution of the National Assembly, following a summary forwarded by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif late Wednesday night.

In an official statement, the PTI core committee declared this day as a moment to express gratitude and seek redemption, emphasizing the conclusion of a 16-month-long era led by what they described as “criminals and fascists.”

The PTI leadership has resolved to provide a comprehensive assessment of the “devastating” impacts caused by the previous government, led by the PDM.

This assessment will be shared with the nation, with a focus on shedding light on various aspects such as media censorship, repression against journalists, and curbs on freedom of expression, the statement said.

Moreover, the PTI aims to enlighten the public about the severe deterioration of the economy, political landscape, and constitutional framework during the PDM’s rule. The collapse of the state apparatus and governance system will also be highlighted as part of this assessment.

The PTI’s initiative includes a spotlight on the extensive censorship of media, suppression of freedom of the press, and the ongoing suppression of journalists and legal professionals, according to the statement.

The party will present factual details before the nation, showcasing the adverse impact of these actions on the democratic fabric of the country.

Furthermore, the PTI intends to offer a detailed account of the economic challenges faced by the people, including skyrocketing inflation and the extensive economic damage inflicted during the PDM’s governance.
