Over 40s Global Cup: Pak defeats Canada in fifth consecutive victory

KARACHI: Pakistan continued their impressive run in the Over 40s Cricket Global Cup tournament by defeating Canada on Monday.
According to reports, Pakistan batted first at the National Stadium Karachi, amassing a formidable total of 312 runs. Canada, in pursuit of 313, struggled to keep up and managed to reach 234-7 in 45 overs.
With the commanding 78-run victory, Pakistan notched their fifth consecutive win, maintaining their undefeated status in the competition.

The latest triumph follows Pakistan’s successful campaign against West Indies on the previous day. Against West Indies, Pakistan secured a comprehensive six-wicket victory while chasing a target of 202 runs.
Rizwan Aslam was the standout performer for Pakistan, contributing a remarkable 82 runs, while Amjad added significantly with 64 runs. West Indies, in response, could only muster 201 runs, losing 8 wickets during their allotted 45 overs. Notable contributions came from Narsingh Devnarine and Derry Balgobin, who scored 49 and 45 runs respectively.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Abdul Qadir with three crucial wickets and Imran Ali with one, played a pivotal role in securing the victory.
The recent success further solidifies Pakistan’s dominance in the Over 40s Global Cup, as they continue to maintain an impressive winning streak in the tournament.
In earlier matches, Pakistan achieved a seven-wicket victory over Australia and an astounding 248-run win against Nepal. Pakistan scored a massive 384 runs in 45 overs, while Nepal fell significantly short of the target with a total of 134 runs in just 36.3 overs.
Prior to the victories, Pakistan clinched a thrilling one-wicket win against the United States of America (USA), with Tassavur Abbas delivering a standout performance.
