WEB DESK: As the death toll in Gaza climbs to at least 12,000, including 5,000 children, due to ongoing Israeli airstrikes and ground operations, former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam expressed his support for the besieged enclave.
Using the platform known as X , Babar Azam shared a poignant image of a girl holding the Palestinian flag with a doll on her lap. Accompanying the image was a piece of poetry in the caption, conveying Azam’s solidarity with the people of Gaza.

This follows a similar gesture by cricketer Mohammad Rizwan, who dedicated his match-winning performance against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup 2023 to the people of Gaza.
In a tweet on October 11, Rizwan expressed his dedication to Gaza and credited the team, especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali, for their contributions to the historic win.
Despite the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) urging Rizwan to delete the social media post dedicating the victory to Palestinians facing conflict, a spokesperson for the PCB mentioned that the International Cricket Council and the PCB’s legal department were handling the matter.
