PM forms committee to oversee conduct of general elections 2024

ISLAMABAD: To ensure smooth conduct of upcoming general elections, caretaker prime minister Anwar-ul-Haq has announced the formation of a committee tasked with overseeing various aspects of the electoral process.

The newly constituted committee comprises seven members, with the Minister of Communications Maritime Affairs and Railways Shahid Ashraf Tarar appointed as its head.

Among the members of the committee are the chief secretaries of all four provinces, bringing together a wealth of regional insights and expertise. Additionally, the committee will include the home secretary, adding a crucial dimension to the discussions surrounding electoral security and law enforcement.

One of the primary responsibilities of the committee is to meticulously review and enhance the security arrangements in preparation for the general elections. This aims to address concerns related to the safety and integrity of the electoral process, underlining the government’s commitment to upholding democratic principles.
