Marriyum Aurangzeb clarifies Shehbaz’s ‘apple of the establishment’s eye’ comment

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stepped forward on Tuesday to provide clarification regarding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement of being the ‘apple of the eye’ for the establishment over the past thirty years.

Talking to Geo News, Aurangzeb said that Shehbaz was being sarcastic while referring to him as the establishment’s apple of the eye.

She continued by elaborating that Shehbaz, subsequent to making the statement, further clarified by saying, “If I am indeed the establishment’s favourite, then why was I imprisoned during Pervez Musharraf’s tenure?”

“During Bajwa’s tenure, Shehbaz Sharif’s daughters were dragged into NAB courts,” she added.

Shehbaz’s statement garnered a lot of attention in the political circle and in the media which left no stone unturned to further exaggerate the very statement.
