LONDON: Former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Raja Riaz, was in London for a much-anticipated meeting with the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif. The meeting, scheduled to take place at the office of Hussain Nawaz, was expected to encompass a wide range of topics including him formally joining Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Earlier he told media that, “I am here to meet Nawaz Sharif to engage in political dialogue that includes the upcoming elections, and Mian Sahab’s return,” while expressing optimism for the coming days, hinting at significant decisions that might shape the political landscape of Pakistan in the near future.
Riaz also indicated the 15th of February as a proposed date for the elections, adding, “Let’s see what happens next.” The former opposition leader appeared confident about Nawaz Sharif’s strong voter base, anticipating a grand welcome for him upon his arrival in Pakistan.
Responding to a recent statement made by Bilawal Bhutto, Raja Riyaz refuted the idea of PML-N withdrawing from the elections. He emphasized, “If the PML-N intended to flee the elections, Nawaz Sharif wouldn’t be returning.”
