Caretaker federal cabinet takes oath

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development aimed at ensuring stability and the continuity of governance during the interim period, the caretaker government has officially unveiled the composition of the federal cabinet.
President Arif Alivi took oath of the newly appointed caretaker cabinet members at a ceremony held at the President’s House in Islamabad.
In the caretaker cabinet, senior journalist and broadcaster Murtaza Solangi has been designated as the information minister.

Former Balochistan home minister and Balochistan Awami Pary (BAP) Senator Sarfaraz Bugti has been appointed as the caretaker interior minister while former foreign secretary, Jalil Abbas Jilani, has been appointed as the caretaker foreign minister.
Similarly, Lt-Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Hyder has been appointed as the caretaker defence minister, while Ahmed Irfan was appointed law minister.
Dr Nadeem Jan has been given the portfolio of the caretaker health minister.
Furthermore, former governor State Bank of Pakistan and economist Dr Shamshad Akhtar has been designated as the caretaker finance minister.
Dr Umar Saif has been given the charge of information technology.
Aneeq Ahmad will oversee religious affairs as the caretaker minister, while Gohar Ejaz has been appointed as the caretaker minister of commerce.
Kahalil George has been given the portfolio of the Ministry of human rights while former SECP chairman Muhammad Ali took charge as the energy minister.
Shahid Ashraf Tarar, who served as the Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission and resigned from his position earlier in the day, was given the portfolio of communications minister.
Caretaker ministers including Shamsad Akhtar, Sarfraz Bugti, Murtaza Solangi, Aneeq Ahmed, Jalil Abbas Jilani, Dr Umar Saif, Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Anwar Ali Hyder, Dr Nadeem Jan, Muhammad Sami, Madad Ali Sindhi, Jamal Shah and Ahmad Irfan Aslam took the oath of office.
President has also given approval for the appointment of advisers to the caretaker prime minister.
These advisers are air marshal (retd) Farhat Hussain Khan, Ahad Cheema and Waqar Masood Khan.
