A student at Islamic University Peshawar has reportedly taken his own life after failing the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).

Mubashir Ali, a first-semester student of the Zoology Department, allegedly consumed sleeping pills in his hostel room on Wednesday evening. He was found unconscious by a fellow student and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the deceased’s father, Mubashir had previously taken the MDCAT twice and was deeply disappointed with his scores. He believed that his inability to secure a high score on the exam would hinder his dream of becoming a doctor.

The police said that the student who committed suicide was from Parachinar.
