ISLAMABAD: Head of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid has been taken to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) on Thursday morning after he complained of not feeling well.

Rashid Shafiq, the nephew of Sheikh Rashid, shared that he received a call from the jail administration informing him about his uncle’s health condition.

The jail authorities conveyed that Sheikh Rashid, currently held at Adiala Jail, was being transferred to RIC for thorough medical tests.

At RIC, Sheikh Rashid is set to undergo a comprehensive medical examination to assess his health status.

The court has also taken notice of the situation, requesting a report from the jail administration regarding the circumstances surrounding Sheikh Rashid’s health concerns.

Sheikh Rashid was arrested on January 16 after a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court rejected his bail in a case pertaining to violence in the country on May 9.

Rawalpindi Police arrested Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed from the court premises. Sheikh Rasheed was granted bail in 11 cases but his bail was dismissed in one case.
