LAHORE: A large number of railway workers staged a protest at Washing Line on Friday, demanding the payment of their overdue salaries. The protesters blocked the main train track, disrupting the services of several intercity trains, including Business Express, Allama Iqbal Express, and Quetta-Karachi Express.

The agitated workers said that they had not received their salaries for the past two months and they would not let the train service resume until their dues were cleared. They also complained about the lack of facilities and incentives for the railway staff.

The protest caused inconvenience for hundreds of passengers, who were stuck in their trains for hours. Some of them expressed solidarity with the workers, while others urged the authorities to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

To defuse the situation, a team of railway officials and representatives from Lahore Railway Station arrived at Washing Line and held talks with the protesters. They assured them that their salaries would be paid within a week and appealed to them to end their protest. The train tracks have now become a platform for the workers to voice their grievances.
