Punjab announces schedule of matric exams; KP postpones

LAHORE/PESHAWAR: The final date sheet of the annual matriculation exams 2024, which will start in March across the province, has been issued by the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen.

According to the date sheet, under the auspices of the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Rawalpindi and Lahore, the paper of English will be held on March 4, Chemistry and General Science on March 6, Physics and Islamic Studies Optional on March 8, Islamic Studies on March 9, Mathematics on March 11, Pakistan Studies on March 12, Biology and Computer Science on March 14, Translation of the Quran on March 15 and Urdu on March 18.

According to the spokesman of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen, the annual examination of class IX English will be held on on March 20, Biology and Computer Sciences on March 22, Chemistry and General Science on March 25, Physics and Islamic Studies Optional on March 27, Translation of the Quran on March 28, Islamic Studies on March 30, Mathematics on April 1, Urdu on April 3 and Pakistan Studies (Pak Studies) on April 5.

On the other hand, the annual SSC (Ninth and Tenth Class) examinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which were to be held on March 14, have been postponed till April 18, 2024.

This decision was taken after the requests of the students and parents who had expressed their concerns about the examinations coinciding with the holy month of Ramazan.

The chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar stressed the importance of keeping Ramazan in view and respecting the sentiments of the community after the appeals of the students and parents, after which a unanimous agreement was reached to reschedule the examinations during the meeting of all the board chairmen of the province.
