Police narrate Bushra Bibi’s attempt to protect husband from arrest

LAHORE: Punjab Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Imran Kishwar has claimed that Bushra Bibi, the wife of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), put up fierce resistance when police reached their Zaman Park residence to arrest the former prime minister following a court verdict in the Toshakhana case.
According to the police officer, police had to force their way to enter the house ultimately by breaking the doors before they arrested the PTI chief, Jang newspaper said.
Kishwar claimed that Bushra Bibi hurled expletives at the police officers.

The police officer also mentioned that during the raid, mobile phones and other important items were also confiscated. He said that they found a piece of cloth and an amulet in a pot from one of the rooms.
He said that when the police team inspected the pot, Bushra Bibi attempted to stop them and said that “there were sacred items in the pot and do not ask about them”.
The PTI chairman was arrested on August 5 after Islamabad sessions court judge, Humayun Dilawar, handed down a verdict against him.
The conviction, under section 174 of the Elections Act, entails a three-year sentence to jail and a five-year disqualification from running for public office.
The former premier was shifted to was later transferred to Attock jail.
