MIANWALI: A police constable was martyred in a terrorist attack on a Punjab Highway Patrolling Post in Mianwali. Ten to twelve terrorists carried out the attack, out of which two have been killed by the police, said Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar during a media talk.

Constable Haroon Khan suffered bullet wound in his eye and embraced martyrdom.

In addition to the two dead terrorists, another one was severely injured, IG Punjab said while sharing details on the attack on Mianwali Isa Khel Kundal patrolling post.

The slain terrorists were involved in many acts of terrorism across the country, he added.

Police was able to thwart the attack. “There were intelligence reports due to which the police was on alert”, he said, adding that the terrorists still managed to do a lot of damage.

Everyone knows the motives behind terrorism, and it is being sponsored by foreign elements, IG Anwar said. He said that a hunt has been launched to trace the runaway suspects.

IG Anwar will attend the funeral of the martyred cop.

The Kundal patrolling post had previously been targeted in a similar attack back in 2009.
