PEMRA follows suit, withdraws review petition in Faizabad dharna case

ISLAMABAD: After Intelligence Bureau, now Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has also withdrawn the review request from the Supreme Court (SC) in Faizabad dharna case verdict.
PEMRA has filed a miscellaneous application to withdraw the revision petition pending against Faizabad dharna decision of the Supreme Court.
IB withdraws review petition against Faez Isa’s judgment from 2019
The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing on the revision petition on September 28. The miscellaneous petition filed by PEMRA says that it does not wish to pursue the revision petition anymore. The authority has requested the SC to allow for withdrawal of the petition.
Earlier on Monday (September 26), the IB also withdrew its review petition.
On February 6, 2019, the SC had issued the judgment in a suo moto matter pertaining to sit-in staged by the Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) in 2017 at Faizabad Interchange. Soon after, eight review petitions were filed.
