Passport deliveries facing delays due to high number of applications

KARACHI: Passport delivery across the country is facing delays of over a month due to a high volume of applications. According to the details, the daily number of applications has risen from 24,000 to 40,000.
As reported by Jang, regular passport delivery is now taking 30 days instead of the usual 10, while urgent passport delivery is taking 15 days instead of the standard 5.
Moreover, the fast-track passport delivery service is now taking more than five days, exceeding the initial two-day period.
As per the details, the individuals intending to travel for Umrah, employment, and foreign education are facing difficulties due to passport delays.
Sources have mentioned that to minimise delays in passport availability, the printing of the passport will continue for 24 hours without interruption.

Last month, in a significant development aimed at easing the burden on citizens, Former federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah announced that passports can now be renewed online without the need to visit any government office.
The new initiative was introduced to revolutionize the passport renewal process and alleviate the longstanding grievances of citizens who were once plagued by long queues and waiting times.
