Pakistan gears up for Independence day tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Nation is all set to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow (August 14) with traditional zeal and fervour.

The day will dawn with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.
Change of guard ceremonies will be held at mausoleums of founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi and Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore.
The national flag will be hoisted at important public buildings, heritage sites and private buildings across the country. These sites would also be illuminated with colourful lights to mark the day.
Special prayers will be offered in mosques for progress and integrity of the country.
Vendors have set up special stalls as citizens throng to purchase national flags and portraits of national heroes to decorate their houses and vehicles.
As part of the celebration, educational institutions would be organising special programmes including speech, debate, essay writing, singing, and painting competitions.
Radio and TV channels would air pecial programmes in connection with the independence day to highlight the strides made by the country in different fields over the last 76 years.
