ISLAMABAD: In response to the recent drop in temperatures attributed to rainfall, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) in Islamabad has announced a change in timings for all educational institutions in both urban and rural areas of the city.

Effective from October 16, the new school and college timings are expected to accommodate the challenges posed by the approaching winter season. Under these revised hours, single-shift educational institutions will operate from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm during the weekdays from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, they will conclude their activities at 12:30 pm.

For double-shift institutions, the FDE has also issued updated schedules. Morning shifts will commence at 8:00 am and conclude at 1:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, with an early conclusion at 12:30 pm on Fridays. Evening shifts will operate from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on weekdays, Monday through Thursday, and commence at 2:30 pm on Fridays.

Postgraduate colleges, on the other hand, have been granted flexibility in their timings, with options to operate from 8:30 am to either 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm. This change in school and college timings is likely to be mirrored in other parts of the country as temperatures are predicted to further decrease.
