Nawaz Sharif calls for global action on Palestine

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif has made a passionate plea for international solidarity in light of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, he underscored the urgency of addressing the issue. The statement comes ahead of Nawaz’s return to Pakistan on October 21to participate in the upcoming general elections in January 2024.

In his statement, Nawaz Sharif emphasised that Israeli aggression not only affects Palestine but also strikes at the core of humanity. He expressed deep concern over the tragic loss of innocent lives, including children and women, in the ongoing conflict, pointing out that such events cast a dark shadow on the collective conscience of humanity.

He wrote, “Israeli aggression is not only an attack on Palestine, it is an attack on all humanity. The martyrdom of thousands of innocent citizens, including children and women, is a big question mark for human conscience. The world must realize that without a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue, lasting peace will always be in jeopardy”.

Nawaz Sharif added, “Pakistan, as always, stands with the Palestinian brothers. The government of Pakistan should raise its voice in every international forum in favor of the Palestinian cause and take immediate action to provide food, medicine and other humanitarian needs to the suffering Palestinian people.”

Nawaz Sharif’s call for global action on the Palestinian issue echoes a sentiment shared by many Pakistanis and reaffirms the country’s commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of the Palestinian people on the international stage.
