ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court in Islamabad, presided over by Judge Muhammad Bashir, has deferred the hearing on the Toshakhana case until January 4. The court has requested a report from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) by the mentioned date, with the NAB prosecutor set to submit the report during the next hearing.

During the proceedings, a request for exemption from attendance today was made on behalf of former premier Yusuf Raza Gilani, citing engagement in an election campaign. Meanwhile, lawyer Qazi Misbah highlighted six different applications that need attention at the upcoming hearing.

Notably, Nawaz Sharif has joined the investigation, as confirmed by lawyer Qazi Misbah. The court also issued a notice for the recovery, and Qazi Misbah emphasised the need to address this matter in the next hearing.

However, challenges have arisen in the case, with the investigating officer being transferred, and the director undergoing a change at NAB. The NAB prosecutor cited these changes as reasons for requiring additional time to submit the report.

Despite the court’s notice, the investigating officer failed to appear at the current hearing, prompting the court to instruct the officer to attend the proceedings in the next hearing on the case in court number 3.
