Met Office issues weather forecast for next 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Sunday that the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of the country, while severe cold and partly cloudy in the northern parts for the next 24 hours.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, dense fog will prevail in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s plain areas and upper Sindh. There is a possibility of mist in some places in the Pothohar region and Kashmir in the morning hours, the Met Office said.
During the last 24 hours, the weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country, while severe cold and partly cloudy in the northern areas. Punjab, upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s plain areas remained under the grip of dense fog/smog.
The lowest temperature recorded on Sunday was minus 06 degrees centigrade in Gupis, minus 05 in Leh, Kalam and Skardu, minus 04 in Gilgit and Quetta and minus 03 degrees centigrade in Rawalakot.
According to the Meteorological Department, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh’s plain areas will remain under the grip of dense fog for the next two days.
The Meteorological Department has advised the citizens to be cautious. Due to the dense fog, the daytime temperature in most parts of Punjab will remain below normal.
On the other hand, due to the dense fog, motorway M3 from Faisalpur to Darkhana has been closed. The spokesman for the motorway police said that Lahore-Sialkot motorway has also been closed due to the fog.
Motorway M4 from Shorkot to Faisalabad is closed due to the fog, motorway M5 from Shire Shah to Zahir Pir was also affected by the fog.
The spokesman for the motorway police further said that the motorways are closed to ensure the safety and secure travel of the people, road users should prefer to travel during the daytime.
