KP LG polls: ECP bars media from announcing results

ISLAMABAD: As the local government elections are under way in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that polling will continue uninterrupted until 5pm.

In a statement, the election watchdog said that after 5 pm, individuals present at polling stations would be able to cast their ballots.

To maintain transparency, the ECP has directed that no preliminary or unofficial results be released by the media until 6pm. This precautionary measure aims to avoid any speculative reporting.

It said that all security agencies are on high alert throughout the polling process and afterward.

The ECP said that security will be intensified during the vote counting process to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.

The ECP said that all necessary means will be employed to guarantee the protection and ease of movement for polling staff.
