ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted post-arrest bail to human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir and Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Ali Wazir in a sedition case stemming from a controversial speech against state institutions.
ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain presided over the proceedings and approved the bail for Imaan and Wazir. The bail was granted against a surety bond of Rs30,000 each.
Imaan and Wazir were apprehended last week and subsequently placed on physical remand following allegations of delivering an inflammatory speech at a public rally organized by PTM.
On August 19, two first information reports (FIR) were lodged against Imaan and Wazir at the Tarnol police station and Counter-Terrorism Department police station, subsequent to a PTM rally held in the federal capital.
The charges against them included sedition, obstruction of government officials’ duties, and causing damage to public property.
