The reason for offloading the former VC from the flight was the absence of a No Objection Certificate (NoC) required for international travel. Dr. Athar Mahboob had retired on July 25, 2023, after serving as Vice Chancellor of Bahawalpur Islamia University.

Prior to this incident, troubling revelations emerged regarding illicit activities, including drug-related issues, within Islamia University Bahawalpur.

The scandal involving over 5000 explicit videos within the university premises, along with alleged involvement of three university officers, has sent shockwaves across the country.

A report forwarded to the caretaker chief minister of Punjab disclosed that Chief Security Officer Ejaz Shah was found in possession of hundreds of students’ videos and eight grams of the drug Ice.
