Former PM’s motorcade brought to halt by protestors

LAHORE: In the city once considered a stronghold of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), the car of PMLN’s senior leader and former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, was stopped by protesters on Wednesday evening.
The local residents of Lahore stopped the car of the former premier in protest as he was on his way to attend the public outreach campaign prior to the general election which is likely to be held in January 2024.
The incident took place on Ferozepur Road – the old Kehna area of Lahore – where the locals established their protest camp against the former government.
Govt to file review petition against SC verdict on NAB amendments
The residents demanded the rehabilitation of Rohi Nala, claiming that the chemical waste from factories were polluting the underground water for the residents of the Ferozepur locality.
The protestors said that the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was the member of National Assembly from this constituency – NA 132.
Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the concerns of the locals and called them for a meeting today [Thursday]. – INP
