Eight-year-old girl kidnapped, murdered in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: An eight-year-old girl in Islamabad was kidnapped and murdered in Islamabad, while she was en route to the madrasa.

Indications from the police suggest that the girl, named Fatima Mazhar, was fatally strangled. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.

Her body was found near Naswar Chowk, falling under the Sumbal police station’s jurisdiction.  The body displayed visible signs of torture.

Before the tragic event, the girl had visited her grandmother in Chiniot.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari has established a dedicated team to conduct an inquiry and directed the District Police Officer (DPO) to carry out a comprehensive investigation and present a report. The DIG also gave clear directives to apprehend the individuals responsible.
