Case registered against Sher Afzal Khan Marwat at Abpara police station

ISLAMABAD: A case has been filed against Senior lawyer Sher and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Sher Afzal Khan Marwat at the Abpara police station. The charges include disrupting traffic, violating Section 144, and the No Objection Certificate (NOC) due to their involvement in organizing a musical night program at Shakarparian.

The case alleges that Sher Afzal Marwat, during the program organised by a student organisation, incited students and allowed speeches against Pakistan and the government.

The complaint, filed by the SHO of the Abpara police station, names twenty individuals, including Sher Afzal Marwat.

Who is Sher Afzal Mawat?

Sher Afzal Marwat was born on 4 April 1971 in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He studied political science and government at Government Degree College Lakki Marwat and then obtained his LLB degree from the University of Peshawar. He later earned his LLM degree in international law from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.

He started his career as a lawyer and then became a civil judge at the Peshawar High Court in 2004. He returned to private legal practice in 2018 and joined the PTI after leaving the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), another political party. He was appointed to the PTI’s core committee and became a close aide of Imran Khan. He played a vital role in defending Khan and the PTI during the 2023 Pakistani protests, which resulted in a crackdown on the party and the abduction of some of its members.

Marwat is known for his outspoken and assertive style of advocacy. He has been involved in several heated arguments and controversies with other lawyers and politicians. He has also been accused of leaking sensitive party information to the adversaries and being a traitor by some of his fellow PTI lawyers. However, he has denied these allegations and maintained his loyalty to the party and its leader.
