Cabinet approves army’s deployment for Feb 8 elections

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has approved the deployment of the army for the security of the 2024 elections.

The army will work as a quick response force in sensitive areas. The cabinet has also set up a committee for reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

As indicated in the approved summary, a significant deployment of 277,000 officers and personnel from the Pakistan Army is slated for election duties. Moreover, Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel will be strategically stationed to bolster security measures throughout the general elections.
