ISLAMABAD: An army major was among two soldiers were martyred and five terrorists killed during an exchange of fire in the general area Sambaza, Zhob district, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Monday.

According to the ISPR, “security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the general area Sambaza, Zhob district on the reported presence of terrorists.”

“During the operation, terrorists were surrounded and after intense exchange of fire, five terrorists were killed,” the ISPR said.

“However, in ensuing exchange of fire, Major Syed Ali Raza Shah (31), a resident of Sargodha district, who was leading the operation, and Havaldar Nisar Ahmed (3), a resident of Vehari district), having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat,” the ISPR said

“Security forces of Pakistan are indebted and proud of our brave men and pay homage to their chivalry and sacrifices for the motherland, which further strengthens our resolve to uproot the menace of terrorism from the country.”

The ISPR said that sanitization of the surrounding areas is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
