PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is facing a wave of resignations in Peshawar, with Ziaullah Afridi, the Provincial Secretary Finance, stepping down from his position on Tuesday.
Afridi’s resignation was formally communicated through a written letter addressed to the acting president of the party. The resignation cited personal reasons and a desire to retire from current responsibilities within the party.
Ziaullah Afridi, a prominent figure within the People’s Party, has been a key player in the province’s political landscape, making his departure significant.

It is notable here that, two other members of PPP, Asma Alamgir and Arbab Alamgir have already resigned from the PPP. The two former party members reported differences with party leaders as reason for resignations, indicating a potential internal rift.
Even though none of these former party members have yet expressed any indication of joining another party, there have been reports of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other parties holding meetings with these politicians.
The sudden departure of these influential figures has sparked speculation about the underlying reasons and potential consequences for the PPP in Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
