NEW DELHI: Bollywood blockbuster science-fiction Koi Mil Gaya (2003) is set to be re-released in theatres on August 4 as part of its 20-year anniversary celebrations.

Earlier this year, various iconic Bollywood movies including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2002) and Jab We Met (2007) made a comeback to the cinemas.

The Hritik Roshan-Preity Zinta starrer originally hit the theatres on August 8, 2003 across 450 screens.

Meanwhile, the upcoming re-release will have a limited run and will be released in 30 cities. Just like the case of Jab We Met earlier this year, the number of prints could be increased based on the audience demand, the media reported.

Helmed by Rakesh Roshan, Koi Mil Gaya portrayed the story of a developmentally delayed child Rohit (Hritik Roshan) who falls in love with Nisha (Zinta). Simultaneously, he befriends an adorable alien named Jadoo. The friendly alien bestows his powers upon Rohit, who later passes them on to his son Krrish (Hrithik Roshan) in the sequel, Krrish (2006). The subsequent movie, Krrish 3 (2013), followed the story of Krrish battling a greater evil, Kaal (Vivek Oberoi).

According to the Indian media, Rakesh Roshan was currently working on Krrish 4. During his interview, he said that he planned to begin filming in 2024. He expressed that making a superhero film with limited budget required strong content and innovative ideas to match the grand scale of big-budget superhero movies from around the world.
