LOS ANGELES: Former child actor Mitchel Musso, best known for his role in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, is claiming innocence following his recent arrest. Musso was arrested in his hometown of Rockwall, Texas, on charges of public intoxication and theft under $100. The incident occurred during a conflict at a motel where he was performing.
According to reports, the altercation stemmed from an incident in which Musso allegedly took a bag of chips from the motel’s food concessions area without paying. He was also accused of being intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
However, Musso denies both allegations. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he stated, “I was absolutely not drunk or drinking, and there was 100 percent no theft.” He explained that the altercation began when the motel clerk became aggressive with him, claiming that the clerk refused to serve him due to his attire, which consisted of swim trunks.
Musso said that the clerk snatched the bag of chips from his hands, leading to a confrontation. He asserted that he was verbally abused and harassed by the clerk, contrary to the police department’s initial press release.
The former child actor also revealed that he had outstanding warrants related to unpaid traffic tickets from 2019, which he claimed were a result of a misunderstanding. He said the warrants were due to mail being sent to his old address, and he had since resolved the matter by paying the fines.
Musso expressed disappointment about the situation, mentioning his love for his hometown. He maintained his innocence and stated that he has never stolen anything in his life.
