FARIDKOT: In an eccentric turn of events on January 7, a bold attempt to cheat during a health workers’ recruitment exam at DAV Public School on Sikhanwala Road, Kotkapura, left authorities astounded.

Angrez Singh from Ram Saran Colony in Faridkot district was apprehended for donning women’s attire in a bid to impersonate his girlfriend, Paramjeet, during the examination conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS).

The university authorities uncovered the elaborate ruse when Singh presented himself at the exam centre adorned in a salwar kameez, accompanied by bangles and lipstick. Additionally, he brandished two forged identity cards – a voter card and an Aadhaar card.

Dr Rajeev Sood, the university’s vice-chancellor, stated, “He was dressed as a woman and had two identity cards, but his appearance and conduct raised suspicion. Following this, the examiners collected his fingerprints for a biometric check. As his fingerprints did not match, we handed him over to the police.”
