Zardari will be PPP’s candidate for president after elections: Bilawal


KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that after the elections, Asif Zardari will be the candidate of the party for presidentship.

In a statement, Bilawal expressed his surprise and sadness regarding the sentence given to Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Iddat marriage case. He stated that “we should not go to such extremes in politics.”

Bilawal mentioned that the PPP will also nominate candidates for the slots of prime minister, the senate chairman and speaker of the National Assembly.

Regarding other political parties, Bilawal stated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was losing support nationwide. He said that Maryam Nawaz is only dreaming to become the chief minister or the prime minister.

He alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was once agains resorting to violent politics due to their anticipated defeat.

Bilawal also commented on the Toshakhana and cipher cases, stating that he has a clear stance on them. However, he expressed surprise and sadness over the sentence given in the Iddat marriage case, emphasizing that we should not let politics go that far.

The PPP chief raised concerns about potential rigging in the upcoming general election, referring to it as the “season of fog.”
