WB okays $200m for rehabilitation of flood-hit people


WASHINGTON: The World Bank (WB) has agreed to provide $200 million to Pakistan for the rehabilitation of flood affected people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to sources, the amount will be utilised for the rehabilitation of 55 million flood affected people in KP.

According to the World Bank, the amount will be utilised for the development of KP’s rural areas.

Previously, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) announced to provide $ 4.2 billion to Pakistan for the rehabilitation of flood affected people and the reconstruction of flood devastated areas in Pakistan.

In January, Pakistan organised an international donors’ conference in Geneva where international community made pledges for financial for the rehabilitation of flood hit areas as well as to meet the damages incurred by floods.
