LAHORE: The District Monitoring Officer in Lahore has summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ata Tarar and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman after they accused each other of buying votes in NA-127 Lahore and PP-160.
The District Monitoring Officer has summoned both the candidates on February 5 along with supporting documents and evidence to substantiate their allegations.
Earlier, PPP accused Tarar of vote-buying, citing a video allegedly showing money changing hands at Atta Tarar’s office.
PPP contends that the video offers clear evidence of vote-buying, particularly targeting female voters who are seen taking oaths while receiving money.
In response, Atta Tarar tweeted accusing PPP members of being caught red-handed buying votes in NA-127. He alleges that they were administering oaths on religious texts to secure votes and accuses Bilawal Bhutto Zardari of disturbing Lahore’s peace.
Further escalating the tension, the office of PPP candidate Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman was reportedly attacked and vandalized.
