JALAPUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Saturday countered critics who had prematurely declared the end of Nawaz Sharif’s political career, highlighting the irony of those making such claims finding themselves in dire political straits today.

Addressing the public gathering in Jalalpur Jattan, Maryam said: “Nawaz Sharif was allowed to contest just once every 22 years. Those who are causing uproar about the level playing field should know that Nawaz Sharif had to live in exile for 11 years.”

“Shame on those who are accusing Nawaz of being favoured,” she added.

Recalling the October 21 rally organised by PML-N at Minar-e-Pakistan to welcome the three-time prime minister upon his return, Maryam said that she was moved to tears witnessing Nawaz’s homecoming, especially considering what people had been saying about him.

She further stated that under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, the country will thrive and achieve prosperity.
